I once had success in a similar situation by rnning the exe in compatibility mode. To do so: 1. Right click on the exe 2. Select Properties 3. Go to the compatibility tab 4. Then it just disappears. I cannot find any setup log or relevant entries in the Event Viewer. I have rebooted, disabled AV, cleared out Windows\Temp and \User\\appdata\local\temp folders.
