The timeout for the second round of queries is 10 seconds divided by the number of nameservers configured, rounded down. Each successive round's timeout is double the previous timeout.
Bind9 DNS server is getting connection timeout
WebJan 30, 2024 · Forward reverse lookups with Bind9. I have a DNS server with Bind9 installed, that has IP 192.168.145.119. This works as a resolver for a DNS server on IP 192.168.145.1. I have setup so it works as a forwarder when using ping, using dig etc. I have also setup a zone with CNAME's. This works fine, as intended. The dig response includes the ttl amended by the caching server (300) not what's actually published by the authoritative server.
